If the volumetric weight exceeds the actual weight, the former will be used to calculate the shipping charge.
Actual Weight: The gross weight of the shipment (including packaging).
Volumetric Weight: The weight of the shipment based on its volume. For this purpose, 6,000 cm3is equivalent to 1 kg. (6,000 cm3/kg is the standard value established by IATA.)
*Calculation Method
Volumetric Weight (kg) = Length (cm) x Width (cm) x Height (cm) ÷ 6,000 (cm³/kg) [The result is rounded up to the nearest 0.5 kg.]
*Sample Calculation
A shipment measures 40 cm x 50 cm x 60 cm and has an actual weight of 15 kg.
Its volumetric weight is: 40 x 50 x 60 ÷ 6,000 = 20.00 kg. The shipping charge is calculated based on this 20 kg volumetric weight value.
